A period should never keep someone out of a classroom, away from work, or isolated at home. Yet girls in and out of school, young mothers, and working women can face each month without the products, information, or support they need.

At Öraculi Program Africa, we want to change what those days feel like. We envision classrooms with period corners where girls can find clear, readable information and pad banks for those who cannot afford products. We work toward period-positive workplaces with sanitary supplies and the understanding employees need to manage their periods with dignity.

Whether someone is learning, earning, or caring for a family, menstrual health should never stand between them and the life they want to lead. It is a human right, not a privilege.

How It All Began

I remember the first time I met Claudine.

She was standing at the edge of the schoolyard in GS Gashora, holding her books like a shield. Fifteen years old. Brilliant eyes that darted everywhere except at me. When I asked her what she wanted to be, she whispered, “Sinzi niba mfite uburenganzira bwo kugira ibyo nifuza.” which translates – “I don’t know if I get to want things.”

That sentence stayed with me.

Because Claudine wasn’t failing at anything. Her grades were solid. Her mind was sharp. I mean you could tell by the way she spoke and handled herself. But every month, she missed five days of school. Every month, she fell a little further behind. Not because she was lazy. Not because she didn’t care. Because she had no pads. Because no one had ever sat beside her and said, “This is normal. This is nothing to be ashamed of. Here’s how you handle it.”

So she stayed home. And the world quietly lost a little more of her potential.

We didn’t start Öraculi Program Africa with a grand strategy. We started with Claudine’s story as inspiration.

Our Vision, Mission & Values

Our Vision

A future where no young person's potential is limited by their biology or their circumstances, and no young person walks their path alone.

We envision an Africa where every girl stays in school with dignity, equipped with the health knowledge and confidence to navigate her body without shame, and where every boy grows up as an informed ally, free from the silence and misinformation that breed stigma. We see a continent where every young person is matched with a mentor who is deeply invested in their future, ensuring that no ambition is quietly lost to a missed week of class, a lack of resources, or the isolation of silence.

Oraculi Program Africa is building a generation of healthy, well-informed, and resilient young people, girls and boys together. We are shifting the narrative from "why this can't be done" to "how can I grow through this?" transforming challenges into pathways for growth.

We are creating Period-Positive Schools and Workplaces that actively support women and girls by providing the space and extending the grace they need to thrive, while equipping boys and men to be part of the support system, not bystanders to the problem. This is a commitment to building a world where women are not just passively supported in theory, but actively equipped in practice, and where boys are raised as partners in that work.

By investing in the whole journey, from menstrual dignity to mentorship, from health education to leadership, we are not just solving a problem. We are nurturing the architects of a beautiful, equitable Africa that will inspire the world.

Our Mission

To ignite and sustain the potential of girls, boys, and young people across Africa through mentorship, leadership development, STEM education, and entrepreneurship, while ensuring dignified access to menstrual health support, so they stay in school, grow in confidence, and lead in control of their futures.

We dismantle one of the most preventable barriers to education: the lack of access to menstrual health products, education, and support. By delivering comprehensive menstrual health solutions and inviting boys into the conversation as allies, we ensure that a girl's period never costs her a classroom, and that no young person is left out of the solution.

We pair young people with mentors who walk beside them, and we build rooms of like-minded youth who push each other to achieve more, do more, and become more. Health keeps her in the room. Mentorship ensures she knows how to own it. The community ensures no one walks alone.

We are creating period-positive schools and workplaces where women are given the space and grace to build a future without limits, and where boys are equipped to be part of the support system, not bystanders to the problem.

Together, we are raising a generation of healthy, informed, and supported young people, girls and boys who have a shot at anything they dream, who dare to do, who have the tough conversations that disrupt comfort, and who become change-makers in their homes, schools, communities, and the world.

"Because when young people rise together, Africa rises with them."

SDG Alignment

Our vision and mission directly contribute to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

1

No Poverty

By keeping all young people in school and equipping them with skills, we break the cycle of poverty that begins when education is interrupted.

3

Good Health & Well-Being

Menstrual health education and dignified access to products ensure girls manage their health without shame and boys grow up informed, not misinformed.

4

Quality Education

A girl's period should never cost her a classroom, and no boy should be left out of the conversation that shapes his community.

8

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Entrepreneurship and STEM education prepare girls and boys alike for the future of work — as founders, innovators, and earners.

10

Reduced Inequalities

We reach youth excluded by geography, income, and gender — realigning opportunity around their potential, and engaging boys in the work of equity.

11

Sustainable Cities & Communities

Period-Positive Schools and Workplaces become replicable community models for inclusion, dignity, and shared responsibility.

Our Values

Ignite

We believe potential doesn't need to be created, it needs to be sparked. We meet every young person assuming the capability is already there, and our role is to light the match that sets their future ablaze.

Nurture

Growth isn't a single event; it's sustained care. We build relationships, not transactions, mentorship that shows up again next month, not just once.

Realign

Barriers pull young people off course. We exist to help them course-correct, realigning access, opportunity, and support around the direction they were always meant to travel.

Dignity

Managing your period should never come with shame. We talk about menstrual health openly, plainly, and without embarrassment, with girls and boys in the same conversation, because every young person deserves to feel normal, not exposed.

Consistency

A mentor who shows up once isn't a mentor. Our relationships are built to last past the first meeting, the first term, the first challenge.

Rootedness

We start local and grow outward. Our work is built community by community across Africa, because real impact is cultivated on the ground, not announced from a distance.

Ownership

From the lab to the boardroom to the marketplace, we equip young people to own their ideas, their ventures, and their futures.

Allyship

We don't raise girls in isolation or boys in ignorance. We raise them together, boys as informed allies, girls as empowered leaders, and both as partners in building a fairer world.

A Story of Purpose

"Our youth aren't lacking ambition; they're lacking mentors. And for too many girls, period poverty steals not just their dignity, but their right to stay in school. That's why we exist—to bridge both gaps, one girl and one mentor at a time."
